Jets Crashing Down

The Jets have had a rough season to say the least; they have had high hopes the last few years but routinely find a way to disappoint. Most of the downfall has been centered on quarterback Mark Sanchez who is having a dismal year to put it lightly. He has a 54.8 completion percentage with 13 touchdowns which are his second lowest totals in these categories of his short career. This is his 4th season in the NFL and he is pretty much the same player as he was when he entered the league, he had a 53.8 completion percentage his rookie year with 12 touchdowns, those stats are almost identical to his this year. He’s failed to develop into the franchise player they had hoped when they drafted him out of USC after his very successful college career, although some people have stuck by him and have had his back though his tough year’s people are starting to fall off the bandwagon left and right. The beginning of the end seemed to be when the Jets brought in the golden child Tim Tebow to “back him up” even though everyone seemed to think that he was going to eventually get a chance to take Sanchez’s spot as the number one QB. That started the fire storm of questions and the huge distraction for the already rocky Jets who are dubbed the headline team in New York. This week coach Rex Ryan has decided to finally sit Mark Sanchez and go a different direction after a 6-8 start which is good for second in the AFC East although that stat is misleading due to the fact that they have zero chance to make the playoffs. So you may be thinking, finally we get to see what Tim Tebow can do in New York… Wrong. Ryan said they will be going with Greg McElroy, if you don’t know who he is don’t worry most people don’t. He played one game this year after they took Sanchez out because he was looking horrible as usual. He came in and threw for 29 yards completing 5 of his 7 passes for 1 touchdown to help the Jets to a victory over the Cardinals. He has no experience and he is listed as the 3rd string QB behind Tebow. What I don’t get is why they would bring Tebow in and rave about how much he’s going to help this team and then not even give him a chance once their season has fallen apart and the QB play has been as bad as it’s been. Now I want to stress to you all that I am not one of those crazy people that say Tebow is the greatest and he should be the starter on almost every NFL team but I do see that he has some talent and he can bring some things to a team that is hurting. Your team is 6-8 why not let him play? He led the Broncos very well last year and even led them to a playoff win over the Steelers. You can say whatever you want about the way he won or the teams that he won against, but he WON. Is he the long term solution for the Jets struggles? No I don’t think so at all but neither is McElroy and Tebow would give you a better chance to win at the moment. The Jets have turned into a complete joke and the laughing stock of the NFL; they are more concerned about grabbing headlines than winning games. The circus that has been created there will not go away until they have a total overhaul of the team and front office. This starts with Sanchez and Ryan in my opinion; they do not work in New York and need to be shipped off their separate ways. Sanchez can’t handle the pressure of playing in New York and Ryan has too big of a mouth for the big apple. The Jets have some of the greatest fans in the league and they need to start putting a winning football team out there for them before they realize what a total joke their team has become. As always that is only one man’s opinion, let me know what you think the Jets should do. Fire Rex Ryan? Trade Mark Sanchez? Or anything else you think they should do.
